Market your Freelance Business

  1. Craigslist: A great and free place to post your advertisement. Publish your ad in the Gigs Offered section of your hometown and surrounding town’s Craigslist pages. Set your contact preferences to whatever you prefer, but getting a potential client on the phone has a much higher conversion rate I have found.

  2. Offer Free Services: Offer up your service to friends and family for free. This will help you build a stronger work portfolio for your freelance site and credibility. Also, ask the people you gave the free service to for feedback and even ask them if they have any contacts that would be interested in your service who you could then charge.

  3. Facebook Ads: A very cheap way to market your business as you can pay as much or as little as you like. Just make a post and click ‘boost’ and then target whatever audience you want. Certain ages, gender, interests, location, etc. can all be specifically targeted.

  4. LinkedIn: Be active on LinkedIn to get sought out by potential clients. Get client references for your profile and use keywords for about your freelance service on your profile.

  5. Social Media: Build a social media following posting helpful, yet basic information, information about your service. Then charge interested clients for your complete service.
